What monitor specifications should be taken into consideration to avoid eye problems? [closed]

I spent time programming on my 13.3" laptop for 8 to 10 hours a day. I was planning to buy a good monitor. Now that I have developed CVS buying a monitor has became an immediate priority.

I have spend some time trying to understand what I should buy and why. I could only zero down on the size (20") and LED. So, I'm looking for advice on many other factors like resolution, pixel density, panel technology and so forth.

What should I look for in a computer monitor to avoid further eye problems? Why?
